  7. 2nd millennium B.C. (circa 2500 BC) Cuneiform Tablet from Syria; 76 x 55 x 26 mm. The surface of this tablet was intentionally effaced and scratched out in antiquity while still pliable, presumably, the scribe wished to void the tablet due to errors or perhaps the transaction had been altered. A few signs remain legible but no complete word is decipherable. The cylinder seal impression on the left edge, of Syrian style, suggests that this table was a contract. Full pedigree accompanies the item.
